How can I uninstall Error Smart
Asked by: Andrew Lees
Hi Andrew,
I hadn’t heard of Error Smart until your posting, but a quick Google search revealed that many people regard it at best as adware (presenting you with pop-up adverts) and at worst malware (doing something bad to your computer).
There’s a useful description of how to remove it at http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=4820.
Briefly, they say that the usual Control Panel method of removing programs doesn’t work on Error Smart. They suggest using Microsoft’s Windows Installer Cleanup application which can be downloaded free from http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe.
As it’s MS’s own application from the Microsoft website, I regard it as trustworthy. Once installed on your PC, it can be run from the Start and displays a list of all installed applications. Select the Error Smart app and delete it.
Good luck!
Oops – a typo! In my last paragraph I meant “can be run from the Start button”.
