Help with Ad Aware
I have been using Ad Aware 2008, but now find it won’t update . Do I need to download the newest version, and if so, do I remove the present one, or will that happen automatically

AdAware 2008 looks to be current at
http://www.lavasoft.com/
I would start by removing the current one via Control Panel / Add&Remove programs then download the current copy (36 MBytes) and install.
If the error persists look for specific error messages and see if your firewall (if installed) is logging any activity connected to it.

Hi Clare,
I used to use Ad-Aware but uninstalled it when it became troublesome in the way you describe.
If you Google the phrase “adaware 2008 won’t update” you’ll get lot of results (about 500,000!) and some of the entries in the Lavasoft forums suggest that it’s a common problem.
PhilT’s suggestion is one I’d agree with – uninstall it, get the latest version and try again.
