Is it possible to design an address and save it so that it can’t be overwritten which I can insert when I write letters?

Hi Eve,
Yes, you can. It’s called a template.
In Word, create a new document with your address in the right place and maybe a space for the date below it. Set it up with the font you’ll want to use and any other formatting, such as margins.
Then do a Save As and change the document type to “Document Template (*.dot). Give it a file-name such as “Home Address.dot”, then click Save.
When you want to create a letter, click on File | New and in the panel that appears you should see your own “Home Address” template listed. Click on it and click OK. Word will then start a new document with the text and formatting from the template already inserted.
Templates can be very useful if you do documents which all require the same general outline. The Help function in Word has lots of details about templates.
