List of Programmes etc on DESKTOP

When I first had my computer, there were many icons on it. But many of these icons have disappeared. How do I restore what used to be on the desktop?

    Windows may have done an automatic desktop cleanup, in which case the icons will be in a folder on your desktop called Unused Desktop Icons.

    If so, you could open the folder and use the mouse to drag the icons back onto the desktop.
