sound from speakers
Why can’t I get any sound from my speakers except when I am using Skype telephony?
All cords and volume are set well.

Hi Joseph,
If the sound with Skype is OK, then the speakers themselves and their physical connections are fine, as you correctly deduce.
It may be that the Windows device drivers for sound need reloading, which you can do via the Device Manager screen.
Go to Control Panel, then double-click System. Select Hardware and click on Device Manager. That will display a list of all the computer devices, including those for sound. If any have a yellow exclamation mark next to them, it indicates a problem. Delete the device and then reboot the PC, which will force Windows to rescan its hardware and reload the correct device drivers.
